Worthless Without Grace
One of my favorite (and most laborious) ways to memorize Scripture is making a song out of it.
In my latest YouTube video, I challenged myself to do one for 2 Corinthians 9:8 in the hopes that it could help and encourage you to also memorize and meditate on verses like these.
📖 “And God is able to make all grace abound to you so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)
The Plague of Impostor Syndrome
In the video I share about how I often feel inadequate to do a lot of things, even making music, despite it being my full-time job. And there are tons of other things that I tend to worry about.
But this verse, I think, has the power to wipe out our impostor syndrome. Our doubts in doing things (despite having had many experiences doing the exact same thing), can stem from factors like our gauge for how much we know, how much energy we have, what we think others are expecting, etc.
But this promise crushes any attempt to trust in our own strength and understanding, as it shows us that our capacity to do everything God wants us to do (good works), comes from Him too.
The Futility of Human Strength
We don’t need a high IQ, we don’t need perfect public speaking skills, Olympian athletic skills, Elon Musk’s bank account, creative prowess, or the largest network—though they are not bad things, and they indeed might be given to us.
But at the end of the day, there’s something that came before we received those: grace.
Grace allowed us to have our skills, or grace allows us to have none and still walk in our good works.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all that you must do in this life, you will never run out of it.
