A Song for the Discouraged

My Problem with Full-time Music

This year, one of my goals is to create with joy again. Would you believe it—when my music started “taking off”, the joy in creating began to diminish. I started feeling pressured to create good music, because if I don’t, I feel like I’m not gonna be able to provide for myself. “Ha ha ha,” I heard a distant voice echoing in my mind. I think it was God laughing. “So you think you’re providing for yourself now?”

I stopped believing that God was my only provider and somehow loaded that burden onto myself. That’s the mistake I want to turn from this year. So this past week, I decided to sit down and create something completely different (believe it or not, there is such thing as too much lofi and r&b).

New Beginnings

To welcome the year, I thought it would be perfect to write a song about new beginnings, and even better to have people help me write it! What I found was pretty surprising.

From your answers, it seems like a lot of people have had a tough time last year, so this song turned into a beautiful masterpiece. It’s the perfect song to listen to when you feel discouraged, lost, hopeless or disappointed in yourself. It’s like an anthem for those who feel terrible but choose to move past it by the grace of God.

If you feel that you are a hopeless case, I’m here to tell you that you are not. If you’ve made big mistakes, let me tell you that there is no mistake too great for God’s mercy. God forgives you. And I know someone out there needs to hear this: go forgive yourself, dust yourself off and carry on with God by your side.

I take you with me in the journey of creating the song through my latest YouTube video.

Feel free to share this with a friend who might need it!
